Maxine Peake

We are honoured to announce British actress Maxine Peake has given her endorsement of the Cuban art exhibition project.

Maxine Peake is supporting the exhibition of contemporary art from Cuba which will run from 6-29 October 2016 at London’s GX Gallery.  ¡PRESENTE! aims to give Cuban artists a rare opportunity to display their work in the UK, and profits from artwork sales will fund materials for Cuba’s art schools via UK charity Music Fund for Cuba.

Please support our appeal to bring young Cuban art rising star, Adislén Reyes, to Britain for the show and to participate in an associated programme of events. Deadline 20 March 2016.

Please support the appeal via our Crowdfunder page

Maxine made her name as Twinkle in Victoria Wood’s sitcom dinnerladies. She has since played Veronica in Channel 4’s Manchester-based drama series Shameless, barrister Martha Costello QC inBBC legal drama Silk and Grace Middleton in The Village. She is also an accomplished stage actress, playing Hamlet in Hamlet, and had a role in the 2014 film The Theory of Everything.

“Her incredible range – from Myra Hindley to Hamlet – coupled with her heart-felt socialism and elfin looks have made Maxine Peake one of Britain’s most interesting actors”
