My ‘home-grown’ art, an art that deals with cultural, historical, even mythological subjects, in order to throw a light on today.., its mistakes and miss apprehensions has been sparked by the experience of seeing artists from Cuba engage with their own culture, politics, spirituality and life. They have been a continuing and enduring influence and inspiration for me. I only hope, that showing their work here in Britain, will influence and inspire others in the same way.”
